If you’ve sampled the vibrant, seasonal menu and outstanding wine list at Eleven in the Strip District, the light, Mediterranean inspired cuisine and drinks at Shady Side’s Casbah, or the savory churrasco grilling tradition at Fogo de Chao Downtown, you’ve no doubt seen and probably sipped from the restaurants’ award-winning wine lists.
Those restaurants are among 10 within 10 miles of Pittsburgh to receive 2022 Wine Spectator Restaurant Awards. Dreadnought Wines and sister business Soiree Partners are proud to deliver the special-order wines that earned those restaurants a distinguished place on this year’s list.
Wine Spectator's Restaurant Awards recognize restaurants whose wine lists offer interesting selections, are appropriate to their cuisine, and appeal to a wide range of wine lovers. See the entire list here.
At Eleven, Dreadnought provides impeccable, yet still affordable French Burgundies (both red and white) including Domaine Thierry Mortet Gevrey -
Chambertin Vigne Belle, Patricia Raquin Chablis and Domaine Marion Pral Beaujolais Blanc.
At Casbah, Dreadnought delivers lovely choices from the Rhone and Loire Valley - Le Versant Viognier, Monmousseau Chinon, and Domaine de la Tourade Gigondas, as well as a bold Sonoma Zinfandel from Valley of the Moon.
At Fogo de Chao, it’s all about a Pittsburgh favorite, the Babich Sauvignon Blanc, to pair with a range of Brazilian-inspired plates.
Dreadnought owners Mike Gonze and Deb Mortillaro have been advising and supplying the best in Pittsburgh’s restaurant biz for more than 40 years through the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board’s Special Order program.
“Making sure Pittsburgh restaurants offer unexpected and sophisticated selections from around the world that appeal to a broad range of palates and price levels is something we have always aspired to do,” Mortillaro said. “That these restaurants have earned a place on Wine Spectator’s list is indicative of the quality of their offerings.”
From Mary’s Vine to Umami to the PA Market, the list of Dreadnought-supplied restaurants, bars and bottle shops continues to grow more delicious and more discerning each year.
Gonze and Mortillaro’s efforts to not only deliver the finest wine, spirits and sake to local restaurants, but to also help industry professionals develop standout wine lists, knowledge and service, continue to elevate Pittsburgh’s food and beverage scene to new heights.
Congratulations to all the Pittsburgh region restaurants on this year’s list!
