Itinerary

Day 1 - Oct 8: Arrival

Arrive to Milano Malpensa airport and transfer to Hotel La Ribezza, a beautiful hotel in Monforte D'alba. Around 6.30pm we will meet in the lobby for an aperitivo and briefing meeting. We will meet Deb, distributor and wine educator and owner of Palate Partners; Marco Scapaganini, Niche Italy Founder and Travel Specialist and Gabriele
Mastrilli, expert tour leader that will guide you on this tour.
Dinner will be at Giardino di Felicin. Run by the same family for over 100 years, this restaurant is a must for its excellent
specialities from the Langhe region.


Day 2 - Oct 9: Piedmont wineries
Today, after breakfast, we will move inside the wine country of Piedmont. We will stop by a good friend of Deb Mortillaro and visit Vajra winery where we will taste Barolo, Nebbiolo and Barbera. Lunch will be at Locanda in Cannubi in Barolo. In the afternoon we will proceed to Ceretto winery, founded in 1930s. We will discover their history, their land and their innovation and of course have a tasting of their wines. We will then head back to the hotel. Dinner will be at Case della Saracca, famous for award winning wine list.

Day 3 - Oct 10: Le Langhe Basse visit
After breakfast, we will drive to Vicoforte to visit one of the best monument in all the Piedmont, the largest round shaped chapel in the world, reopened last year during the Expo period. The frescos are part of the UNESCO Heritage sites. For lunch we will go in Valcasotto, an original ancient mountain village famous for the cheese production. We will visit the old aging caves. After the visit we will have lunch in a local osteria with a great selection of excellent dairy products. In the afternoon, we will move back to the hotel. Dinner tonight will be at La Ciau del Tornavento, a famous Michelin star restaurant with one of the most spectacular wine cellars.

Day 4 - Oct 11: Barbaresco and Alba

After breakfast we will make our stop in Barbaresco and visit the winery Gaja, a synonym for the excellence of the Langhe lands. Angelo Gaja was the first to produce single vineyard wines in Piedmont and revolutionized wine making practices in the region. The visit will be followed by a tasting. We will then have a light lunch in Osteria Antica Torre. In the afternoon we will move to Alba and have a nice guided walking tour of the town before heading back to the hotel. Dinner will be at Trattoria della Posta, famous for the best grilled onions with Castelmagno cheese and tajarin with truffle.


Day 5 - Oct 12: Truffle Hunt

In the morning we will have the chance to do the famous truffle hunt. The afternoon is dedicated to visit and experience a Piedmont winery named Podere Einaudi visiting the vines, the wine production, having snack and finally we will end the tour with a wine tasting. Dinner will be at Osteria Battaglino in Dogliani. Marco Battaglino, famous local chef will bring white truffle for the guests.


Day 6 - Oct 13: Cooking Class

In the morning you will have an incredible farmhouse experience by casa Matilda, a slow food presidium farm, with a homemade pasta cooking class and lunch with the owners. In the afternoon, we will have free time in Dogliani before going for dinner at Fiorella’s house (Marco's mom). Fiore is a wonderful women that will welcome us on her beautiful property in the heart of Dogliani’s countryside. A stunning landscape overlooking hills and vineyards.

 

Day 7 - Oct 14: Getting to Turin

Today you will check out and we will move towards Turin. We will go and visit the University of Food and Wine, founded by the Slow Food Movement President Carlo Petrini. We will have a great wine tasting at La Banca del vino before going for lunch at their beautiful restaurant and try their Vitello Tonnato, the Veal carpaccio in Tuna Sauce. Later in the afternoon we will travel to Turin, the Capital of Piedmont, check in at the hotel, relax. Dinner on your own tonight. We will suggest for you some great restaurant and help you with the reservation


Day 8 - Oct 15: Turin

Today we will enjoy a great chocolate tasting in one of the most famous and old producer and shop in town. After this incredible experience we will be guided to discover the old Savoy Capital, which was also the first Capital of Italy. Lunch on your own. The guide and your tour leader will suggest you a few restaurants and local cafe where you can have lunch. After lunch you will have some good free time for shopping in the very fancy and selected pedestrian area of the city center along Corso Cavour. We will meet later in the day and go the “bicerin”, which is the oldest cafe in town where Cavour (a famous 19th century Savoy general) used to go, before going to our farewell dinner at the traditional restaurant Le Tre Galline, famous for the preparation of the Gran Bollito Misto. Return to the hotel after dinner.


Day 9 - Oct 16: Departure
Today you will depart from Turin airport or Turin train station.
